dc.description.abstractAtravés do estudo da presença das mulheres discentes e docentes que ingressaram no Ginásio da Bahia, entre 1910 e 1937, o presente trabalho analisa aspectos da educação feminina ministrada no ensino secundário, no inicio da República Velha. A pesquisa se insere no campo da história da educação e utilizou o método histórico em uma abordagem qualitativa voltada para a identificação e análise dos elementos presentes na sociedade que possibilitaram a presença feminina na instituição. A revisão de literatura e a pesquisa documental demonstraram que as mudanças socioeconômicas que se efetivaram no inicio do período republicano alteraram os costumes, fomentaram novas regras de conduta decorrentes das relações sociais que se processavam, estimularam o convívio feminino em novos espaços públicos e privados resultando na adoção de hábitos que influenciaram o cotidiano das mulheres soteropolitanas e contribuíram para o rompimento gradativo das limitações impostas pelo patriarcalismo secular. Através da legislação, de documentos localizados no acervo histórico da própria escola, de textos memorialísticos e de notícias localizadas em periódicos foi possível reconstituir aspectos do funcionamento do Ginásio e constatar que a instituição desempenhou importante função no cenário educacional baiano, ao ofertar um ensino público secundário de excelência que contribuiu para a formação intelectual de seu quadro discente.pt_BR
dc.description.abstract2Through the study of the presence of female students and teachers who entered the Gymnasium of Bahia, between 1910 and 1937, this paper analyzes aspects of female education in high school, at the beginning of the Old Republic. The research is inserted in the field of the history of education and used the historical method in a qualitative approach focused on the identification and analysis of the elements present in society that enabled the female presence in the institution. The literature review and documentary research showed that the socioeconomic changes that took place at the beginning of the republican period changed the behavior, promoted new rules of conduct resulting from the social relations that were being processed, stimulated female living in new public and private spaces resulting in adoption of habits that influenced the daily lives of soteropolitan women and contributed to the gradual disruption of the limitations imposed by secular patriarchalism. Through legislation, documents located in the school's historical collection, memorial texts and news located in periodicals, it was possible to reconstruct aspects of the Gymnasium's functioning and to find that the institution played an important role in the Bahian educational setting, by offering a high school public education of excellence that contributed to the intellectual formation of its students.
