dc.description.abstractThe present study aims to analyze the socio-spatial dynamics of the Metropolitan Region of Salvador based on the socio-spatial indicators of the municipalities that comprise it. The methodological approach adopted is quali-quantitative and includes a literature review covering concepts related to urban networks and metropolitan regions, drawing on authors such as Milton Santos and Roberto Lobato Corrêa, as well as texts obtained through the Observatório das Metrópoles. Additionally, it examines the emergence of Metropolitan Regions and the laws that establish them to understand the ideologies and policy focuses at different moments in the country's history. Furthermore, the research involves the collection of secondary data from national and state sources, with key analytical indicators including the Municipal Human Development Index (MHDI), the Social Vulnerability Index, per capita income, and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Metropolitan Region of Salvador. As a result, the study analyzes the components that have contributed to the configuration of the Metropolitan Region, considering the aforementioned indicators. It identifies the socio-spatial disparities that persist among the municipalities within the region and, based on these findings, determines the areas that require specific interventions and targeted policies to mitigate inequalities, promote more equitable growth, and significantly improve quality of life.
