| dc.description.abstract | Este trabalho tem como objetivo geral analisar a importância do ensino da Língua Brasileira de Sinais (Libras) na educação básica para estudantes ouvintes. Como objetivos específicos, busca-se: investigar os marcos legais que respaldam a Libras no sistema educacional brasileiro; identificar os desafios enfrentados pelas escolas e professores na sua implantação; e discutir propostas pedagógicas que favoreçam sua inserção no currículo escolar. A pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa, com caráter exploratório, fundamenta-se em revisão bibliográfica e documental, contemplando legislações, documentos oficiais e produções acadêmicas. Os resultados demonstram que, apesar dos avanços legais e de experiências positivas em diferentes regiões do país, a oferta da Libras ainda é insuficiente, marcada por lacunas na formação docente, escassez de materiais pedagógicos e ausência de políticas públicas consistentes. Evidencia-se, entretanto, que o ensino da Libras para ouvintes contribui para a inclusão escolar e social, amplia a empatia nas relações, fortalece o protagonismo da comunidade surda e promove a cidadania plena. Conclui-se que a expansão do ensino de Libras é essencial para transformar a escola em um espaço bilíngue e multicultural, no qual todas as línguas e culturas sejam reconhecidas e valorizadas. | dc.description.abstract2 | The general objective of this work is to analyze the importance of teaching Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) in basic education for hearing students. The specific objectives include: investigating the legal frameworks that support Libras in the Brazilian education system; identifying the challenges faced by schools and teachers in its implementation; and discussing pedagogical proposals that favor its inclusion in the school curriculum. This qualitative, exploratory research is based on a bibliographic and documentary review, encompassing legislation, official documents, and academic literature. The results demonstrate that, despite legal advances and positive experiences in different regions of the country, the availability of Libras remains insufficient, marked by gaps in teacher training, a shortage of teaching materials, and a lack of consistent public policies. However, it is clear that teaching Libras to hearing students contributes to educational and social inclusion, increases empathy in relationships, strengthens the role of the deaf community, and promotes full citizenship. It is concluded that expanding Libras teaching is essential to transforming schools into bilingual and multicultural spaces where all languages and cultures are recognized and valued.
