dc.description.abstractEsta monografia examina alguns aspectos da Sociolinguística interligando com o conceito de literatura, com foco em variações linguísticas sociais, utilizando a versão traduzida do livro Anne de Green Gables O objetivo principal desta pesquisa acadêmica é explorar as diferentes formas de linguagem presentes na obra. “Anne of Green Gables”, reconhecendo a importância da diversidade linguística no ambiente social e os mecanismos sociais que moldam a fala e a escrita dos personagens. Para isso, foi empregada uma revisão teórica que possibilitou a compreensão e interpretação das características sociais da linguagem no livro anteriormente citado. Adicionalmente, à medida que o estudo avançou, foram incluídas as inferências e análises extraídas das leituras e interpretações. Os resultados evidenciam que a abordagem sociolinguística aplicada à literatura promove uma leitura crítica mais profunda das obras, além de estimular práticas educacionais mais sensíveis, inclusivas e representativas. A análise permitiu compreender como a fala dos personagens expressa identidades, pertencimentos e desigualdades sociais. Dentre os principais teóricos que fundamentam esta análise, destacam-se William Labov (1972), considerado precursor da Sociolinguística e referência nos estudos de variação linguística; Pierre Bourdieu (1989), com sua teoria sobre o capital cultural e o poder simbólico da linguagem; Joshua Fishman(1972), com importantes contribuições sobre a sociologia da linguagem; J.K. Chambers (1995), ao discutir variações geográficas; e Adriana Facina (2004) e Antônio Candido (2006), com abordagens críticas sobre literatura e sociedade. A partir desses referenciais, o estudo reafirma a relevância da literatura como campo privilegiado para investigar as relações entre língua, cultura e sociedade.
dc.description.abstract2This monograph examines some aspects of sociolinguistics as they relate to the concept of literature, focusing on social linguistic variations, using the translated version of the book Anne of Green Gables. The main objective of this academic research is to explore the different forms of language present in the work "Anne of Green Gables," recognizing the importance of linguistic diversity in the social environment and the social mechanisms that shape the speech and writing of the characters. To this end, a theoretical review was employed to understand and interpret the social characteristics of language in the aforementioned book. Additionally, as the study progressed, inferences and analyses drawn from the readings and interpretations were included. The results demonstrate that the sociolinguistic approach applied to literature promotes a deeper critical reading of works, in addition to encouraging more sensitive, inclusive, and representative educational practices. The analysis allowed us to understand how the characters' speech expresses identities, belonging, and social inequalities. Among the main theorists who inform this analysis are William Labov (1972), considered a pioneer of Sociolinguistics and a leading figure in studies of linguistic variation; Pierre Bourdieu (1989), with his theory of cultural capital and the symbolic power of language; Joshua Fishman (1972), with important contributions to the sociology of language; J.K. Chambers (1995), with his discussion of geographic variations; and Adriana Facina (2004) and Antônio Candido (2006), with critical approaches to literature and society. Based on these frameworks, the study reaffirms the relevance of literature as a privileged field for investigating the relationships between language, culture, and society.
