| dc.description.abstract | Este trabalho analisa a trajetória da Companhia de Teatro e Movimento Artístico de Teixeira de Freitas (TEMAT), grupo fundado em 1990 e atuante há mais de três décadas no Extremo Sul da Bahia. A pesquisa tem como objetivo compreender o papel da companhia como espaço de resistência, formação cultural e transformação social, evidenciando sua contribuição para a preservação da memória e da identidade regional. Para tanto, foram utilizadas fontes bibliográficas, documentais e entrevistas semiestruturadas com os membros fundadores do grupo, analisadas à luz das concepções teóricas de Paulo Freire, Augusto Boal e Jacques Le Goff. Os resultados apontam que a Cia TEMAT se consolidou como importante agente cultural e educativo, capaz de articular práticas artísticas e comunitárias em um contexto marcado pela escassez de políticas públicas e infraestrutura cultural. A atuação da companhia, desenvolvida em espaços alternativos como praças, escolas e igrejas, demonstra que o teatro no interior baiano transcende a dimensão estética e assume um caráter político, pedagógico e social. O estudo reafirma o teatro como ferramenta de resistência, valorização da cultura popular e fortalecimento da memória coletiva, revelando que, mesmo em meio às adversidades, a arte continua sendo um poderoso instrumento de emancipação e pertencimento comunitário. | |
| dc.description.abstract2 | This research analyzes the trajectory of the Companhia de Teatro e Movimento Artístico de Teixeira de Freitas (TEMAT), a theater group founded in 1990 and active for more than three decades in the southernmost region of Bahia, Brazil. The study aims to understand the company’s role as a space of resistance, cultural formation, and social transformation, highlighting its contribution to preserving regional memory and identity. Methodologically, the research is based on bibliographic and documentary analysis, as well as semi-structured interviews with the group’s founding members, interpreted through the theoretical perspectives of Paulo Freire, Augusto Boal, and Jacques Le Goff. The findings reveal that TEMAT has become a key cultural and educational agent, combining artistic creation with community engagement in a context marked by limited cultural infrastructure and public funding. By occupying alternative Spaces such as squares, schools, and churches the group transforms theater into a political and pedagogical tool that promotes social awareness and popular culture. The study reaffirms theater as an act of resistance and a form of collective memory, showing that art remains a vital instrument of emancipation and belonging, even in the face of structural challenges. | |
