dc.description.abstractUm dos mais antigos gêneros textuais escritos, a carta, até o final do século XX, foi o principal meio de comunicação à distância, servindo não só de veículo de transmissão de informações entre pessoas distantes no espaço, como também de registro da sociedade, cultura e língua de seu tempo. Contudo, com os avanços tecnológicos e a necessidade de informações espontâneas próprias de nosso tempo, ela vem perdendo espaço e, aos poucos, sendo substituída por novos meios, como o telefone e, mais recentemente, a internet. As cartas têm função comunicativa variável conforme o grau de intimidade entre remetente e destinatário e o tipo de correspondência, podendo prevalecer tanto o padrão formal quanto o coloquial. Assim, há vários subgêneros de cartas, com estrutura semelhante e alguns elementos básicos indispensáveis (local e data, saudação, corpo, despedida e assinatura) e outros específicos, variáveis (cabeçalho ou timbre, numeração, endereço). Entre aquelas espécies, está a carta de amor, idêntica às congêneres na estrutura, mas diferente no conteúdo: a expressão do amor romântico do autor(a) pelo destinatário. Em 1980, o escritor brasileiro Edegard Gomes (1916-1998) publicou pela editora Pallas a obra “Cartas de Amor”, um conjunto de 84 cartas amorosas em forma de poema. No seu exemplar do livro, ele fez algumas anotações indicativas de mudanças que pretendia fazer no texto, numa segunda edição, ainda não realizada. Isto significa que o texto publicado não mais corresponde à sua última vontade, necessitando, portanto, de uma edição crítica, tarefa executada com a aplicação de técnicas da Crítica Textual. Esse empreendimento é relevante porque, além de ajudar a divulgar a obra de um escritor desconhecido do grande público, revela um documento histórico, artístico e linguístico, fonte de informações sobre os valores, a estética e a escrita formal, literária do momento de sua produção.
dc.description.abstract2One of the oldest written textual genres, the letter, until the end of the 20th century, was the main means of distance communication, serving not only as a vehicle for the transmission of information between people far away in space, but also for registering society, culture and language of its time. However, with technological advances and the need for spontaneous information typical of our time, it has been losing ground and, little by little, being replaced by new media, such as the cellphones and, lately, internet. Letters have a variable communicative function depending on the degree of intimacy between sender and recipient and the type of correspondence, with both formal and colloquial patterns prevailing. Thus, there are several subgenres of letters, with a similar structure and some essential basic elements (place and date, greeting, central text, farewell and signature) and other specific ones, variables (header or letterhead, numbering, address). Among those species there is the love letter, identical in structure, but different in content: the expression of the author's romantic love for the recipient. In 1980, the Brazilian writer Edegard Gomes (1916-1998) published, by Pallas publisher, Cartas de Amor ‘Love Letters’, a set of 84 love letters written as poems. In his copy, he made some notes indicating changes he intended to make to the work, in a second edition, not yet carried out. This means that the published text no longer corresponds to his last wish, requiring, therefore, a critical edition, a task performed with the application of Textual Philology techniques. This undertaking is relevant because, in addition to helping to disseminate the work of a writer unknown to the general public, it reveals a historical, artistic and linguistic document, a source of information about the values, aesthetics and formal, literary writing at the moment of its production .
