A representação da mulher em Mulan e Bela Bela ou O Cavaleiro Afortunado: um estudo comparativo

| dc.description.abstract | Esta pesquisa é resultado de uma análise comparativa realizada entre a produção cinematográfica Mulan (1998), de Walt Disney e dirigida por Tony Bancroft e Barry Cook, e o conto Bela Bela ou O Cavaleiro Afortunado (1698), da Baronesa D’Aulnoy. A investigação buscou compreender como se dá a representação do feminino nessas obras que, embora pertencentes a épocas distintas, com autorias e linguagens diferentes, apresentam um ponto de encontro significativo: a presença de uma protagonista que decide vestir-se de homem para lutar, honrar seu rei e proteger sua família, rompendo com o ideal feminino tradicionalmente imposto pela sociedade. A partir de uma pesquisa bibliográfica de abordagem qualitativa, foram realizados estudos críticos e análises sobre a gênese, o conceito e as transposições dos contos de fadas, assim como sobre autoria feminina e representações de gênero. Os resultados demonstram que, embora ambas as protagonistas transgridam os papéis de gênero ao se travestirem, o conto do século XVII e a animação do século XX elaboram modelos narrativos distintos de ação e poder feminino, refletindo os contextos sociais e os debates de suas respectivas épocas. Conclui-se, portanto, que as obras - situadas nos Salões Literários Franceses do século XVII e na cultura de massa do final do século XX - oferecem respostas singulares ao mesmo dilema. Cada uma, a seu modo, contribui para a construção de uma representação feminina que transcende estereótipos tradicionais de fragilidade, afirmando a mulher como figura ativa, corajosa e transformadora em sua própria jornada. | |
| dc.description.abstract2 | This research is the result of a comparative analysis between the animated film Mulan (1998) by Walt Disney, directed by Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook, and the fairy tale Belle-Belle, or The Fortunate Knight (1698) by the Baroness D’Aulnoy. The study aimed to understand the representation of femininity in these two works which, despite belonging to different historical periods and involving distinct authorships and narrative languages, share a meaningful common ground: a female protagonist who decides to disguise herself as a man to fight, honor her king, and protect her family, thereby breaking with the traditionally imposed feminine ideal. Through a qualitative bibliographic approach, critical studies and analyses were conducted concerning the genesis, concept, and transpositions of fairy tales, as well as female authorship and gender representations. The findings show that although both protagonists transgress gender roles through cross-dressing, the 17th-century tale and the 20th-century animation develop distinct narrative models of female agency and power, reflecting the social contexts and debates of their respective eras. Thus, it is concluded that each work – anchored respectively in the French Literary Salons of the 17th century and in late-20th-century mass culture – offers unique responses to the same dilemma. Each, in its own way, contributes to the construction of a feminine representation that transcends traditional stereotypes of fragility, affirming women as active, courageous, and transformative figures in their own journeys. | |
