| dc.description.abstract | Conto infantil acerca da história de amor de uma princesa e uma fera, lançado em 1757, presente no imaginário de crianças do mundo inteiro, “A Bela e a Fera” ensejou muitas versões e algumas vezes adaptações para o cinema, que fizerem dele um dos contos infantis mais lidos e conhecidos do público. Uma análise um pouco mais funda de sua base ideológica indica a existência de inúmeros estereótipos sobre beleza e feiura. Há dois protótipos: um sempre associa a feiura a traços negativos, como a maldade e o horror, considerados sinônimos da Fera; o outro frequentemente associa a beleza à bondade e ao poder. A construção de ambos estereótipos levam o leitor – mais especificamente, as crianças – a desejar atingir essas boas características. Isto mostra como a literatura, a arte e a mídia podem construir e impor modelos de comportamento que excluem aqueles que não os seguem e assumem modos de viver diferentes e alternativos. | |
| dc.description.abstract2 | Children's tale about the love story of a princess and a beast, first published on 1757, present in the imaginary of children all over the world, "Beauty and the Beast" brought many versions and, sometimes, adaptations to the cinema that made this one of the best-known tale for children. A little deeper analysis of the tale on it ideological bases points to innumerable stereotypes about beauty and ugliness. There are prototypes: one always associates ugliness to negative characteristics, like evil and horror, token as synonyms of the Beast; the other often associates beauty to other elements, such as kindness and power. The construction of both stereotypes leaves the reader – more specifically the children – to wish reaching these good characteristics. It shows how literature, art and media can build and impose behavior models that exclude those who don’t follow them and assume different and alternative ways if living. | |
