dc.description.abstractA estética da existência presente no pensamento de Michel Foucault é um modo como o indivíduo constitui sua subjetividade, exercendo sobre si mesmo um trabalho semelhante ao que o artista exerce sobre a obra de arte. Esse modo de constituição do sujeito teve suas origens na cultura do cuidado de si praticada na antiguidade greco-romana. No retorno que fez a cultura do cuidado de si Foucault observou que a prática de uma escrita pessoal exerceu, nesse momento, uma função de áskesis. A esse tipo de escrita, encontrada nas cadernetas de anotações e nas cartas de direção espiritual, ele dá o nome de escrita de si. Partindo desse contexto trazido nos estudos foucaultianos, essa pesquisa irá pensar a obra Cartas de um diabo a seu aprendiz de C. S. Lewis como uma espécie de escrita de si na constituição de sua subjetividade enquanto cristão. O livro trata-se de uma série de 31 cartas ficcionais que Lewis escreve da perspectiva de um diabo experiente, instruindo um tentador júnior a corromper a alma de um determinado humano durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial. A leitura que evidenciamos nessas cartas ficcionais é a de que Lewis, ao refletir seu processo de conversão e as posteriores dificuldades que enfrentou como cristão no início de sua prática de fé, decide se por usar da literatura fantástica para prescrever cuidados necessários que o indivíduo requer ao lidar com as tentações. Utilizando o método bibliográfico, objetivou-se investigar como o sujeito cristão se inventa a partir da escrita de sua própria experiência com a arte e a literatura. Neste sentido, Cartas de um diabo a seu aprendiz se mostrou uma escrita de direção espiritual na forma de literatura fantástica, onde Lewis exercita sua peculiar forma de ver o cristianismo e o ser cristão. A escrita de si de C. S. Lewis nas Cartas de um diabo a seu aprendiz proporciona uma ampliação da perspectiva do sujeito cristão na atualidade e contribui para refletir as formas de subjetivação ligadas a arte e a religiosidade de nosso tempo.
dc.description.abstract2The aesthetics of existence conceived in Michael Foucault's thought is a way in which the individual constitutes his subjectivity by exerting upon himself a work similar to that which the artist exercises over the work of art. This mode of constitution of the subject had its origins in the culture of self-care practiced in Greco-Roman antiquity. In the return that made the culture of the care of itself Foucault observed that the practice of a personal writing exerted at that moment a function of askesis. To this type of writing found in notebooks and spiritual direction letters he gives the name of self-writing. Starting from this context brought in the Foucaultian studies, this research will think the work The Screwtape Letters of C. S. Lewis as a sort of writing of itself in the constitution of its subjectivity as a Christian. The book is a series of 31 fictional letters that Lewis writes from the perspective of an experienced devil instructing a junior tempter to corrupt the soul of a particular human during World War II. The reading we have shown in these fictional letters is that Lewis, in reflecting his conversion process and the later difficulties he faced as a Christian at the beginning of his practice of faith, decides to use fantastic literature to prescribe necessary care that the individual requires in dealing with temptations. Using the bibliographical method, the objective was to investigate how the Christian subject is invented from the writing of his own experience with art and literature. In this sense, The Screwtape Letters aturned out to be a writing of spiritual direction in the form of fantastic literature, where Lewis exercises his peculiar way of seeing Christianity and being Christian. The writing of himself by C. S. Lewis in the Letters of a devil to his apprentice provides an extension of the perspective of the Christian subject in the present time and contributes to reflect the forms of subjectivation linked to the art and the religiosity of our time.
