dc.description.abstractRESUMO: A presente pesquisa discute a estereotipagem da mulher negra a partir da noção de “imagens de controle”, conceito formulado por Patricia Hill Collins (2000), em diálogo com bell hooks (1992), Lélia Gonzalez (1984) e Sueli Carneiro (2003). Parte-se do pressuposto de que as mídias audiovisuais exercem um papel central na construção de significados raciais e de gênero, sobretudo na difusão e na manutenção de representações que influenciam a forma como determinados grupos sociais são percebidos e tratados. O estudo investiga de que modo as mídias audiovisuais, por meio de produções fílmicas situadas em diferentes contextos históricos, contribuem para a naturalização de estereótipos que reforçam a subalternidade, a hipersexualização e a marginalização da mulher negra. Para tanto, analisa-se a imagem de controle propagada nas obras Imitation of Life (1959) e A Mulher Rei (2022), evidenciando permanências e rupturas nas representações da mulher negra entre o cinema clássico e o contemporâneo. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza bibliográfico-documental, que busca não apenas descrever tais representações, mas problematizar os mecanismos ideológicos que as sustentam. Assim, pretende-se contribuir para uma reflexão crítica acerca do papel das mídias audiovisuais na reprodução de estruturas racistas e sexistas, bem como ressaltar a urgência de narrativas que promovam a valorização, a resistência e o protagonismo das mulheres negras. dc.description.abstract2ABSTRACT: This research discusses the stereotyping of black women based on the notion of “control images,” a concept formulated by Patricia Hill Collins (2000), in dialogue with bell hooks (1992), Lélia Gonzalez (1984), and Sueli Carneiro (2003). It starts from the assumption that audiovisual media play a central role in the construction of racial and gender meanings, especially in the dissemination and maintenance of representations that influence the way certain social groups are perceived and treated. The study investigates how audiovisual media, through film productions set in different historical contexts, contribute to the naturalization of stereotypes that reinforce the subordination, hypersexualization, and marginalization of black women. To this end, it analyzes the controlling image propagated in the works Imitation of Life (1959) and The Woman King (2022), highlighting continuities and ruptures in the representations of black women between classic and contemporary cinema. This is a bibliographic-documentary research that seeks not only to describe such representations but also to problematize the ideological mechanisms that sustain them. Thus, it aims to contribute to a critical reflection on the role of audiovisual media in the reproduction of racist and sexist structures, as well as to highlight the urgency of narratives that promote the valorization, resistance, and protagonism of black women.
