dc.description.abstractO objetivo deste estudo foi verificar se os professores brasileiros de inglês ensinam os fonemas fricativos interdentais da língua inglesa nas turmas de Ensino Médio do Colégio Modelo Luís Eduardo Magalhães, em Jacobina - Bahia. Os participantes foram dois professores de inglês atuantes na instituição investigada e oito alunos matriculados em séries que variavam entre o primeiro ao terceiro ano. Os dados foram coletados por meio de observações das aulas de inglês e, um questionário realizado com os professores e um outro com os alunos. De modo geral, os resultados indicam que pode estar ocorrendo uma variação quanto ao ensino dos fonemas do ‘th’(um professor possivelmente esteja fazendo a instrução explícita dos sons em questão enquanto o outro não). Os resultados também sugerem que a pronúncia não é a habilidade mais evidenciada pelos educadores nas aulas de língua inglesa. No entanto, acredita-se serem necessárias futuras pesquisas que ampliem o tempo de observação a fim de verificar tal questão.
dc.description.abstract2The objective of this study was to investigate whether the Brazilians teachers of English teach the English interdental fricative phonemes in classes of High School Colégio Modelo Luís Eduardo Magalhães in Jacobina - Bahia. The participants were two English teachers working in the institution investigated and eight students enrolled in grades ranging from the first until the third year. Data were collected through observations of English classes and a questionnaire realized with teachers and students. Overall, the results indicate that a variation may be occurring as the teaching of the ‘th’ phonemes (possibly a teacher is working the explicit instruction of the sounds in question while the other teacher is not). The results also suggest that the pronunciation is not the most evidenced skill by educators in English language lessons. However, it is believed to be necessary further research to expand the observation time to verify this issue. Key words: English Interdental Fricatives, Teaching, Pronunciation
