dc.description.abstractEste trabalho visa analisar o uso do fenômeno linguístico do diminutivo na obra Terras do Sem Fim, de Jorge Amado. É importante compreender a relevância do diminutivo dentro dos contextos proporcionados pela narrativa literária. Ao explorar essa estratégia linguística, pretende-se elucidar como o uso do diminutivo contribui para a construção da narrativa e para a caracterização dos elementos da trama, proporcionando uma compreensão mais ampla do texto e de suas nuances linguísticas. A seleção dos trechos da obra para o corpus analítico não apenas considerou as ocorrências de uso dos termos no diminutivo, mas também a riqueza dos campos semânticos em que estes estão inseridos. Os campos semânticos, representando conjuntos de vocábulos inter-relacionadas por seus significados, permitiram uma análise mais abrangente. Esses campos contextualizam as ocorrências dos diminutivos, oferecendo uma compreensão mais completa de como esses termos se entrelaçam, ampliando sua carga semântica e enriquecendo a narrativa. Isso proporcionou um olhar mais abrangente e contextualizado sobre o uso dos diminutivos na obra de Jorge Amado, oferecendo uma visão mais completa não apenas do uso dos vocábulos, mas também das sutilezas e nuances presentes nos diversos contextos em que esses termos são empregados. O embasamento teórico desta pesquisa está fundamentado na perspectiva da Semântica, abrangendo tanto a Semântica Lexical quanto a Formal. Ao empreendermos a análise do fenômeno do diminutivo na obra, recorremos a uma variedade de fontes, incluindo dicionários de língua portuguesa, gramáticas especializadas e pesquisas acadêmicas relevantes sobre esse fenômeno linguístico. O resultado da análise permitiu identificar a complexidade e a diversidade de usos do diminutivo dentro da narrativa, revelando sua influência na construção de significados e sua definição contextualizada no cenário em que se insere, enriquecendo a compreensão da obra e do fenômeno linguístico em questão. dc.description.abstract2This paper aims to analyze the use of the linguistic phenomenon of diminutive in Jorge Amado's Terras do Sem Fim. It is important to understand the relevance of the diminutive within the contexts provided by the literary narrative. By exploring this linguistic strategy, the aim is to elucidate how the use of the diminutive contributes to the construction of the narrative and to the characterization of the elements of the plot, providing a broader understanding of the text and its linguistic nuances. The selection of excerpts from the book for the analytical corpus not only considered the occurrences of the use of diminutive terms, but also the richness of the semantic fields in which they are inserted. The semantic fields, representing sets of words interrelated by their meanings, allowed for a more comprehensive analysis. These fields contextualize the occurrences of diminutives, offering a more complete understanding of how these terms intertwine, broadening their semantic load and enriching the narrative. This has provided a more comprehensive and contextualized look at the use of diminutives in Jorge Amado's work, offering a more complete view not only of the use of the words, but also of the subtleties and nuances present in the various contexts in which these terms are used. The theoretical basis of this research is based on semantics, covering both lexical and formal semantics. In undertaking the analysis of the diminutive phenomenon in the work, we drew on a variety of sources, including Portuguese language dictionaries, specialized grammars and relevant academic research into this linguistic phenomenon. The result of the analysis allowed us to identify the complexity and diversity of uses of the diminutive within the narrative, revealing its influence on the construction of meanings and its contextualized definition in the setting in which it is inserted, enriching our understanding of the work and the linguistic phenomenon in question.
