História e música: reggae e identidade negra em Conceição do Coité

| dc.description.abstract | O presente trabalho traça uma trajetória da música Reggae desde o seu surgimento na Jamaica até a sua chegada à Bahia e, por conseguinte, à Conceição do Coité. Para tanto, faço uma revisão bibliográfica sobre a temática. O objetivo da monografia é entender até que ponto o fato de os sujeitos ouvirem Reggae influencia, ou não, na construção de uma identidade negra local, individual e coletiva. Para isso, faz-se necessário o uso da fonte oral, minha principal fonte, pois, para desenvolver a pesquisa, trabalho com as experiências dos sujeitos, e estas só podem ser alcançadas através de seus relatos. Para analisar as falas dos entrevistados recorro às orientações metodológicas de Alberti (2005) e Amado (1995). Foi percebido que, mesmo se tratando de um grupo relativamente pequeno, o sentir-se negro e a forma de ouvir reggae diferem-se. Pra compreender tais variações, Stuart Hall (2003,2011) me ajuda a discutir sobre a complexidade que envolve a constituição de uma identidade. Ainda para ajudar a compreender o que é ser negro em Conceição do Coité, retomo uma discussão sobre o passado escravista do município. | |
| dc.description.abstract2 | This paper traces the trajectory of Reggae music from its emergence in Jamaica to its arrival in Bahia and, consequently, in Conceição do Coité. To this end, I conduct a bibliographic review on the subject. The objective of the monograph is to understand to what extent the fact that individuals listen to Reggae influences, or not, the construction of a local, individual and collective black identity. To this end, it is necessary to use oral sources, my main source, because, to develop the research, I work with the experiences of the individuals, and these can only be reached through their accounts. To analyze the statements of the interviewees, I use the methodological guidelines of Alberti (2005) and Amado (1995). It was noted that, even though it is a relatively small group, the way they feel black and the way they listen to reggae differ. To understand these variations, Stuart Hall (2003, 2011) helps me discuss the complexity involved in the constitution of an identity. To help understand what it means to be black in Conceição do Coité, I will revisit a discussion about the municipality's slave past. Keywords: Reggae. Identity. Conceição do Coité. | |
